Two Lazio Players Head Off to World Cup in Qatar

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Matias Vecino will take part in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Italy’s failure to qualify for the tournament means only two Biancocelesti representatives will take to the pitch in Qatar, leaving the rest of the squad to continue working with Maurizio Sarri in Rome. Lazio’s first game after the six-week World Cup break is against Lecce on 4th January.

Milinkovic-Savic has been called up by Serbia for the World Cup and will play a starting role for his country. Serbia’s three group games are against Brazil on 24th November, Cameroon on 28th November and Switzerland on 2nd December.

Uruguay have called up Vecino for the World Cup but he’s unlikely to be a core feature of Lionel Scaloni’s squad. The 31-year-old will be a useful and experienced rotation option. Uruguay’s three group games are against South Korea on 24th November, Portugal on 28th November and Ghana on 2nd December.
