Pedro underlined his happiness at Lazio and commented on Spain’s chances at the World Cup in Qatar.

The 35-year-old Spanish winger, who won the World Cup in 2010, has been an important and reliable figure in Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 system in Rome, understanding the movements well and being a key reference point for the younger players in the squad. Pedro has scored four goals and provided three assists in 18 appearances across Serie A and the Europa League this season.

Speaking to Cadena SER (via LazioNews24), Pedro first discussed his comfort in Italy and happiness at Lazio.

I feel very good in Italy. It’s a country similar to Spain from a cultural point of view. I felt good from the first moment. The teammates have been incredible, as well as the fans. Football is experienced with a lot of passion.

I’m happy to play for a team like Lazio, they represent values that are linked to me. The hard work, the humility, the sacrifice, the harmony, the respect, the cheerfulness that you experience in the dressing room.

I’m happy because it’s a different experience I’ve had in my life and I’ve also learnt another language, which is Italian.

He reflected on his time at Barcelona, where he scored 99 goals and provided 62 assists in 321 appearances.

When Barcelona called me, I was a child. I was playing with San Isidro in those years. I was lucky enough to play an international tournament and the call came from Barcelona.

I was also nervous, I was going to face important teams like Boca, Gremio, Ajax. In the end, my performance was good and I started the following year.

Finally, Pedro gave his thoughts on Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for this World Cup.

I would have liked to have seen some teammates I had the chance to work with. Like Sergio Ramos, Thiago, Silva, Kepa.

Being coach is very complicated, he called who he thought was better at that moment. You have to respect his decision. It’s difficult, because you have to choose from a list of so many players. However, I hope Spain can win the World Cup.

The 35-year-old Pedro joined Lazio on a free transfer last year after ending a one-year spell with Roma. He scored six goals and provided seven assists in 40 games for the Giallorossi.
