Aston Villa Interested in a Move for Ex-Lazio Flop

Aston Villa are starting to raise their interest in RCD Mallorca’s Vedat Muriqi, a deal that would economically benefit Lazio.

The Biancocelesti sold the Kosovan striker to the Spanish outfit in the summer for around €7 million, letting him leave the Italian capital after an incredibly disappointing two-year spell at the club. Muriqi never lived up to his €20 million price tag at Lazio but did rediscover his form with Mallorca and helped keep them in La Liga whilst on loan last season.

As reported by Spanish outlet Futbol Total (via LazioNews24), Aston Villa are preparing a €20 million bid for Muriqi ahead of the January transfer window, keen to add the Kosovan striker to their squad.

RCD Mallorca are not keen to lose the 28-year-old forward and have pointed to the €40 million release clause present in his contract.

Lazio are following the situation closely, as the deal that took Muriqi from Rome to Mallorca contained a 45% future resale clause, giving the Roman club the chance to pick up some crucial funds from a possible sale.
