Lazio Star Ready to Return After World Cup Elimination

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is ready to get back into the swing of things with Lazio after Serbia’s tough World Cup elimination.

The 27-year-old midfielder started all three of Serbia’s games at the tournament in Qatar and scored once in their 3-3 draw with Cameroon, but was unable to help his side progress to the Round of 16. Milinkovic-Savic was given a short break by Lazio after the World Cup exit and now he’s keen to get back to work.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Milinkovic-Savic will return to Rome today and will join the Lazio squad for their short training retreat in Turkey. The squad leave for Belek on Monday and will spend around a week on the Mediterranean coach.

Regarding his contract, things are at a stalemate. Claudio Lotito has offered the Serbian star a new five-year deal worth around €5 million net per season, including add-ons. The player has not responded to this yet and things looks a little tense ahead of the January transfer window.
