Atalanta & Bologna Keen on Redundant Lazio Full Back

Lazio are looking to shift unneeded full back Mohamed Fares in January and both Atalanta and Bologna are interested in a move.

The 26-year-old Algerian full back has had a difficult time of things since joining the Biancocelesti in October 2020 in a deal worth around €8 million. Injuries have started to derail Fares’ career, with issues from a knee problem to a cruciate ligament rupture leaving him sidelined for over 42 games since he arrived in Rome.

As reported by TMW, Lazio are keen to re-home Fares in January and have received interest from both Atalanta and Bologna, who seem set to make a move for the Algerian in January.

The Biancocelesti will be likely hoping to sell the 26-year-old in a definitive deal but a loan with a permanence clause attached could be a more accessible option for the interested parties.

Fares has not made a single appearance since his 90 minute outing in Genoa’s 1-0 loss to Spezia back in January, with a cruciate ligament rupture ruling him out of action for months.
