Lazio president Claudio Lotito underlined his happiness with the work of the Lazio squad and suggested that their position in the league table could improve at the end of the season.
The Biancocelesti currently sit fourth in the Serie A table and coach Maurizio Sarri is desperate to guide the squad back to the Champions League, something that has important transfer market repercussions. Despite some inconsistencies in Europe, Lazio looked strong in the first half of the season and they’ll be hoping to maintain their momentum in 2023.
Speaking at the Lazio Christmas dinner (via LazioNews24), Lotito first discussed the project in Rome and his happiness with the Biancocelesti squad.
There are so many problems circulating that could totally change the scenarios and results at the end of May. I am sure you will play a great role in this season. In fact, all together we must prove it.
I told Sarri that I am proud of you, because you live in a serene atmosphere, you are a diverse and healthy squad. You have married a project, many of you have grown exponentially both technically and in terms of winning mentality.
So we start this second part of the season with the knowledge that everyone has to deal with us and that we are second to none. The important thing is that everyone plays their role, each helping the other.
The Lazio president then commented on the family atmosphere at the club and his pride at their work.
We start this second part of the season with determination. We are now a family and you can see that in our spirit in training, on the pitch and also off it, like tonight.
We are a group that has sown well. The time to harvest is coming. I’m enjoying it, thank you for what you have done. I see you improving and growing.
When discussing the problems in Serie A, Lotito is likely referring to the ongoing investigations into Juventus’ financial practices, such as their usage of allegedly falsified capital gains and hidden salary payments in the early stages of the COVID pandemic.
