Lazio are desperate to tie down star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to a new contract but no concrete progress has been made.
The 27-year-old Serbian midfielder returned to Rome earlier this month following his adventure in Qatar at the World Cup, rejoining Maurizio Sarri’s squad in Formello. With only 18 months left on his contract with Lazio, the club are hoping to secure Milinkovic-Savic’s signature on a new deal.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), despite Lazio’s intentions, no steps forward have been taken in their quest to lock down Milinkovic-Savic. President Claudio Lotito spoke closely with the Serbian star during yesterday’s Christmas dinner, trying to convince him of a new deal, but no progress was made.
Both the player and his agent Mateja Kezman are keen to make the situation clear in the coming weeks and their current idea is to be sold in the summer for a fair price.
Arsenal are seriously interested and Juventus have long had their eye on the 27-year-old, but this won’t stop Lazio trying to tie him down to a new deal in the coming months.
