Maurizio Sarri is hoping to have a fully fit Lazio squad for the start of the new year but a couple of players are still dealing with minor issues.
The Biancocelesti squad returned from their mid-season training retreat in Turkey last week and have been working hard in Formello since, getting in some vital preparations before the Christmas break.
The Lazio squad and staff are now taking a few days off to be with their families for the holidays, giving them another short break before the second half of the season.
As highlighted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Mattia Zaccagni took part in the entirety of the final squad training session before the Christmas break, returning after a bout of flu. He’s expected to be fully fit for the first game of 2023 against Lecce on 4th January.
Matteo Cancellieri was forced to stop during the training session and didn’t take part in the inter-squad match, dealing with a slight contusion. The club are not particularly anxious about his condition.
Elseid Hysaj has still not returned to squad training yet, working separately as he deals with a calf issue. There’s a chance that he could be rested for the Lecce clash.
