Zoff: ‘Luis Alberto Rare Vision, One of the Best in Serie A’

1982 World Cup winner Dino Zoff had high praise for Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto, believing him to be one of the most talented in his position.

The 30-year-old Spaniard has not had the best of times since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri last year, often struggling to see eye to eye with the former Napoli coach.

This season, Luis Alberto has only started five Serie A games and has been constantly linked with moves away from Rome, suggesting his time in the Italian capital may be drawing to a close.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Zoff spoke highly about Luis Alberto and explained why he’s such a fan of the Spaniard.

I like him a lot. He has a rare vision of the game, typical of the old number 10s. When he has the ball between his feet he is very elegant and beautiful to watch.

I think technically he is one of the most gifted players in Serie A. He is one of those players who enhances those around him.

The former Juventus and Napoli goalkeeper explained why the 30-year-old was one of the best players in the Biancocelesti squad.

Without a shadow of a doubt. And the fact that he doesn’t always start doesn’t mean that he is belittled or disliked. In today’s football, games are often decided by the players who come on during the game.

The more changes there are, the more likely it is that the subs will determine the match. Keeping an ace up your sleeve is a strategic choice.

Finally, Zoff was asked whether Lazio should sell or keep Luis Alberto. The 30-year-old has been linked with moves to Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla.

I honestly don’t want to get into this kind of discussion. Judging from the outside, without knowing the people involved or the situations in depth, is easy, but also extremely wrong.

The decision, one way or the other, must be made by those who know what they are talking about. Mine would only be an opinion, but not based on concrete things.
