Two Lazio Midfielders in Doubt for Lecce Clash

Maurizio Sarri may have to do without Lazio duo Luis Alberto and Danilo Cataldi for the upcoming match against Lecce.

The Biancocelesti have been hard at work this month preparing for the second half of the campaign, training as usual in Formello and carrying out a short training retreat in Turkey.

The Roman club have faced Galatasaray, Hatayspor and Almeria in friendlies, allowing them to build a little match fitness, and they’re keen to pick up from where they left off before the World Cup break.

As highlighted by La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Lazio may not be able to count on either Luis Alberto or Cataldi for their first game of 2023 against Lecce. The Spaniard is struggling with lower back pain, an issue that forced him to miss training yesterday, and the Italian is dealing with a groin issue.

The situation may force Sarri to tinker with his midfield a little, possibly deploying Marcos Antonio and Matias Vecino alongside Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
