Ciro Immobile and Ivan Provedel were the only Lazio players up to scratch in their disappointing 2-1 loss to Lecce.
Maurizio Sarri’s side initially took the lead at the Stadio Via del Mare after Immobile’s opener in the first half, but their drop after the half time break allowed the Puglian side back into the match. Gabriel Strefezza and Lorenzo Colombo found the back of the net in the second half, allowing Lecce to secure all three points and Lazio leave exasperated upon the full-time whistle.
The match was further marred by reports of racist abuse coming from sections of the Lazio support, aimed at Lecce duo Samuel Umtiti and Lameck Banda, both of whom were visibly shaken by the incident. It was an ultimately miserable evening for Lazio, who’ll now need to dig deep ahead of their next game against Empoli on the weekend.
