Maurizio Sarri was livid following Lazio’s defeat to Lecce on Wednesday, reprimanding the squad in a long talk at Formello.
The Biancocelesti initially took the lead in their first outing of 2023, with a Ciro Immobile opener starting the team’s year in the best possible way. Unfortunately for Sarri and Lazio, things changed in the second half and the home side managed to find two goals of their own, leaving the Roman outfit empty handed come the full time whistle.
As highlighted by LazioNews24, Sarri was furious with his players following their defeat to Lecce and spent over half an hour shouting at them at Lazio’s training ground in Formello.
He locked the players in the gym and loudly reprimanded them for the defeat, angry with the manner of the performance and lack of mentality on display. The coach is desperate for his team to avoid suffering any more mental drops in matches, something they cannot afford in the fight for a top four finish.
