Rumours began to emerge that Lazio were keen to snap up free agent Isco but they’ve now silenced those suggestions.
The former Real Madrid man left the Spanish capital on a free transfer in the summer and joined up with Sevilla. Things didn’t particularly go to plan with the club and he agreed to a mutual contract termination last month, putting him back on the free agent market again.
Lazio are historically a club that doesn’t spend a lot in January and are usually more active with loan deals or free agent signings.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), rumours quickly began to circulate yesterday that Lazio were in talks with Isco regarding a possible free transfer to Rome this month. The club have now made it clear that no deal will take place and that the rumours were baseless, silencing the noise.
Lazio are not expected to make any major signings this month and their two priorities are a new backup striker and a left back, making the Isco idea intriguing but ultimately out of reach for the time being.
