Immobile Makes Promise to Lazio Fans After Tough Start to 2023

Ciro Immobile was proud to celebrate Lazio’s 123rd birthday and made a promise to the fans after the team’s rough start to the year.

The Biancocelesti have only picked up a single point from their first two outings of the year, suffering a 2-1 loss to Lecce and a 2-2 draw with Empoli. Maurizio Sarri’s side took the lead in both matches and will be desperate to bounce back in their next game against Sassuolo, working to stay involved in the fight for a top four finish.

Speaking at the club’s anniversary event (via TMW), Immobile discussed the celebrations and promised fans that things would improve for Lazio soon.

It’s nice to be here to celebrate. Lately we haven’t been ‘lightning fast’ but we promise we’re coming back. We will be ‘fireworks’ as the president says.

I can only praise the team for the match against Empoli, we lacked the result but the commitment and desire to win was there.

We will put even more effort into the next one to get all three points.

The 32-year-old Immobile has done well this season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 17 appearances across all competitions. The Italian striker is only one goal behind former Fiorentina man Kurt Hamrin in the Serie A all-time top scorer rankings, sitting on 189.
