Salernitana and FC Sion Both Keen on Lazio Full Back Fares

Salernitana and FC Sion have both emerged to register their interest in unneeded Lazio full back Mohamed Fares.

The Biancocelesti are hoping to pick up a new left back in this month’s transfer window but need to lighten up their squad a little, and Fares is the obvious choice to depart.

The 26-year-old Algerian is not part of Maurizio Sarri’s project in the Italian capital and his €1.3m wages are heavy on the team’s balance sheets.

As reported by Sky Sports Italia (via LazioNews24), both Salernitana and FC Sion are keen on Fares, with the latter taking initial steps in recent weeks. The former’s interest depends on who takes over from the dismissed Davide Nicola in the dugout.

Should Fares depart this month, Lazio may look to pick up Cremonese’s Emanuele Valeri to replace him. Sarri is a fan of Juventus loanee Luca Pellegrini but that deal would be significantly harder to pull off.
