Maurizio Sarri could end up leaving Lazio in the summer as both Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are keeping a close eye on the Italian coach.
The 63-year-old has recently faced some frustrating difficulties in the Italian capital, disagreeing with sporting director Igli Tare about the team’s chances for Champions League qualification and unhappy with the lack of January reinforcements.
Sarri has underlined his positive relationship with the Lazio squad and fans, but a departure in the summer cannot be ruled out.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Tottenham are planning to say goodbye to Antonio Conte in the summer and have started looking around for possible replacements, with one of their ideas being Sarri.
Atletico Madrid have also started to keep an eye on the 63-year-old Italian coach, whose Lazio contract expires in 2025. They are considering replacing long-term boss Diego Simeone at the end of the campaign.
Claudio Lotito will need to give Sarri some important clarifications in the coming months to try and convince him not to give up on the project in the Italian capital. The coach wants a full say in the transfer market and expects answers in the near future.
