Lazio have finally found a breakthrough for Luca Pellegrini on loan from Juventus via Eintracht Frankfurt just hours away from the Transfer Deadline, reports Sky Sport.
The Biancocelesti clearly needed a new left-back heading into the January transfer window, with Elseid Hysaj failing to convince in the role. Maurizio Sarri was quick to highlight Pellegrini as an exciting option and Lazio opened talks early in the month to explore a possible deal for the Italian.
Lazio were reportedly unable to make a move for Pellegrini until they’d lightened up their squad a little. However, they decided to first focus on the Italian’s arrival before dealing with departures; specifically, Mohamed Fares. The Algerian is set to join Antalyaspor in the coming days, and as the Transfer Window in Turkey ends in early February, Lazio will finalize his move in the near future.
As announced by Gianluca Di Marzio and Manuele Baiocchini, Pellegrini has joined Lazio on a six-month loan deal with a €15 million buy option attached from Juventus via Eintracht Frankfurt, giving Sarri an essential reinforcement for the second half of the season. The player also reduced his salary to be able to return to Italy and join the Biancocelesti.
The 23-year-old Italian left-back spent the first half of this season on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he made 14 appearances across all competitions.
He will arrive at Fiumicino Airport at 22:35 local time.
