Lazio Need Immobile in Quest for Champions League

Lazio need talismanic striker Ciro Immobile to return to scoring ways if they want to secure Champions League qualification this season.

The 32-year-old Italian forward started the season well, netting six goals in the first nine Serie A games of the season, but things started to go down hill after he suffered a thigh muscle injury.

Since suffering that injury on 16th October, Immobile has only scored once in the league, netting in the 2-1 loss to Lecce in the team’s first outing of the new year.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio cannot do without their talismanic striker and need Immobile to start getting on the scoresheet again soon as they fight for a top four finish.

Maurizio Sarri is hoping to see the 32-year-old play the entire 90 minutes of the upcoming game against Atalanta, a team he’s scored five goals against in the past.

The Lazio captain himself is hungry to get back to his best, wanting to help the team find a little consistency after a turbulent start to 2023.
