Diego Gonzalez Agent: ‘He’ll Try to Earn His Place at Lazio’

Iraultza Arrese, the agent of new Lazio signing Diego Gonzalez, looked back at how his client’s move to Rome came about and his goals in the Italian capital.

The 20-year-old Paraguayan forward joined the Biancocelesti on a six-month loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy clause attached in the January transfer window, arriving from Mexican outfit Celaya.

A relative unknown in Italy, Diego Gonzalez has already shown his talents on multiple occasions, scoring four goals in 14 league appearances for Celaya and impressing at the South American Youth Football Championship.

Speaking to All Around Lazio, Arrese first discussed when Lazio made an approach for Diego Gonzalez.

The first contacts with Lazio started during the South American Under-20s championship, where Diego is doing very well.

He explained what kind of player his client is and where he could fit in Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

Diego is a skilful and fast left-back. His role is left wing or second striker. He’s humble and professional.

The agent touched on the 20-year-old’s goals with the Biancocelesti in the coming months.

Diego will go to the first team and, with humility, will try to earn his place. He is very grateful to the club for being able to realise his dream of playing for such an important team.

Finally, Arrese discussed his and his client’s opinions about Lazio before the deal was completed.

Lazio are a club with more than 100 years of history and that speaks for itself. I followed them a lot from that Lazio with Nesta, Mihajlovic, Nedved… it was wonderful to watch all their matches.
