Lazio have been drawn against Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar in the Round of 16 of the Europa Conference League.
The Biancocelesti booked their spot in the knockout stages of the competition after a play-off win over CFR Cluj, winning 1-0 on aggregate.
Maurizio Sarri’s side started the season in the Europa League but finished third in a group containing Feyenoord, FC Midtjylland and Sturm Graz, relegating them to the Conference League.
UFEA carried out the Conference League draw today and Lazio were paired up with AZ Alkmaar, giving them a tough but exciting European tie.
AZ Alkmaar topped their Conference League group, finishing ahead of Dnipro-1, Apollon Limassol and FC Vaduz. The Dutch outfit currently sit third in the Eredivisie table, five points behind league leaders Feyenoord and two behind Ajax.
Lazio have never faced AZ Alkmaar in the past, but have seen difficulties in matches against previous Dutch opponents like Feyenoord, PSV and Vitesse.
The first leg will kick off in Rome on March 7 and the return leg will be played on March 16 in the Netherlands.
