FIGC Investigating Anti-Semitic Chants From Lazio Fans in Win Over Napoli

The FIGC Federal Prosecutor’s Office has reportedly opened an investigation after Lazio fans were seen allegedly singing anti-Semitic chants ahead of the win over Napoli.

The Biancocelesti shocked the league leaders in their recent clash in the Campania capital, edging out an impressive 1-0 win thanks to a wonderful striker from Matias Vecino. The result puts Maurizio Sarri’s side in a strong spot as the top four race continues to heat up.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, videos have emerged online seemingly showing a large group of Lazio fans singing anti-Semitic chants outside the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona prior to the 1-0 win over Napoli.

Around 100 fans were seen taking part in the deplorable act and the FIGC have now opened an investigation. They are also investigating possibly racist chants heard during the match aimed at Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

Lazio have made efforts to combat the plague of discrimination in Italian football in recent years but it’s clear that greater actions are needed.
