Lazio Lose Vecino for Derby della Capitale

Lazio will have to do without midfielder Matias Vecino for their upcoming Derby della Capitale clash with Roma.

The 31-year-old Uruguayan has been quietly important for the Biancocelesti after arriving on a free transfer last summer, playing an important role in Maurizio Sarri’s midfield.

In recent weeks, Vecino has shown why he was a strong addition to the Lazio squad last year, scoring a wonderful goal against Napoli to guide the team to victory and putting in a strong performance in the recent draw with Bologna.

As announced by Lega Serie A (via LazioNews24), Vecino has been suspended for Lazio’s upcoming derby clash with Roma after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the draw with Bologna.

The Giallorossi also lost defender Marash Kumbulla to suspension, with the Albanian seeing red after lashing out at Domenico Berardi in their loss to Sassuolo.

Sarri also cannot count on injured star striker Ciro Immobile, who is dealing with a muscle injury.
