Lazio Investment in Maximiano & Marcos Antonio Not Paying Off

Lazio spent a total of €20m on Luis Maximiano and Marcos Antonio last summer and the investment has clearly not paid off.

The Biancocelesti were incredibly active in last summer’s transfer window, working to provide Maurizio Sarri with the right tools needed to take the team back to the Champions League.

A number of key players were picked up by Lazio, like Ivan Provedel and Alessio Romagnoli, but not all of the club’s summer signings have done well in the Italian capital.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) highlights how €10m was spent on Maximiano and €10m total on Marcos Antonio, two players who have struggled to impress at Lazio this season.

The Portuguese goalkeeper has made just six appearances across all competitions, far below Provedel in the pecking order, and the Brazilian midfielder has struggled to hit the levels required of Sarri’s system in Rome.

The pair have been stuck on the bench this season and could realistically be sold in the summer, should the right offers arrive.
