Sarri Desperate for Lazio to Pick Up Napoli’s Zielinski

Maurizio Sarri wants Lazio to be prepared for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s departure and he wants Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski to be brought in as the replacement.

The Serbian midfielder has already decided not to renew his contract with the Biancocelesti and doesn’t want to leave on a free transfer in 2024, so a sale in the summer is the best outcome for all parties.

Lazio are hoping to secure a top four finish as they start to plan their summer transfer window, keen to take the necessary steps to take the team up a level.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), whilst Sarri does want Lazio to sign more Italian players in the summer, he’s also desperate for the club to make a move for Zielinski.

The coach has a great relationship with the Polish midfielder, whose contract expires with Napoli in 2024. A renewal hasn’t been discussed at this stage and he could likely be bought for cheaper than his estimated €40m market value.

Zielinski even visited the Lazio dressing room after the team’s recent 1-0 win in Campania to pay his compliments to Sarri.

The main issue for the Biancocelesti is the Pole’s salary; he currently earns around €4.2m net per season, a significant amount more than the €3m net per season that Milinkovic-Savic costs.
