Lazio are reportedly one of the many clubs interested in picking up Tigre striker Mateo Retegui in the summer.
The 23-year-old Argentine-born forward was handed a surprise call-up by Roberto Mancini for Italy’s first two Euro 2024 qualifiers against England and Malta, and he didn’t disappoint by scoring on his debut in a 2-1 loss to the Three Lions.
Holding an Italian passport, Retegui is expected to make the move to Europe at the end of the season as he looks to continue his development and carve out a regular spot for himself in the Azzurri squad.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio have joined the race to pick up Retegui in the summer, joining a number of other clubs including Inter, Milan and Atletico Madrid.
Argentina’s Minister of Economy Sergio Massa confirmed in an interview with Radio Mitre that five offers have already arrived for the 23-year-old, four of which came from European clubs.
Tigre will activate the €2.5 million buy option attached to Retegui’s loan move from Boca Juniors before selling him in the summer.
