Referee Marcenaro Assigned to Officiate Monza vs Lazio

Referee Matteo Marcenaro will leading the officiating team in the upcoming Serie A clash between Monza and Lazio.

The Biancocelesti cannot afford to drop points to the Lombardy outfit as they look to maintain their strong position in the top four race.

Maurizio Sarri’s side only edged out a 1-0 win over Monza when the two teams met in Rome back in November, when the goalscorer was talented teenager Luka Romero.

Below is the full officiating team for Monza vs Lazio:

  • Referee: Matteo Marcenaro
  • Assistant referees: Gamal Mokhtar – Domenico Palermo
  • Fourth official: Davide Massa
  • VAR: Luca Pairetto
  • VAR assistant: Luca Banti

The 30-year-old Marcenaro has never officiated a Lazio match and only began working in Serie A in the 2021-22 season, overseeing three topflight games in his debut campaign.

In his seven Serie A games this season, Marcenaro has brandished 35 yellow cards, one second yellow card, five red cards and three penalties.
