Lazio May Leave Immobile on Bench for Juventus Clash

Maurizio Sarri may decide not to start talismanic striker Ciro Immobile in Lazio’s upcoming Serie A clash with Juventus.

The 33-year-old Italian forward has suffered a season disrupted by injuries, being forced to miss out on seven league matches this campaign through various muscle injuries.

Immobile did appear in the second half of Lazio’s 2-0 win over Monza but was clearly a little rusty, having not taken to the pitch for a month prior.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Immobile may again be left on the bench for Lazio’s upcoming league match with Juventus, despite being fully fit.

Sarri is considering opting for a false nine system against Massimiliano Allegri’s side, leaving things unpredictable for the Bianconeri defence.

The Lazio captain could then come on in the second half, similar to how he did against Monza, should the team need an extra threat up front.

Despite his frustrating campaign, Immobile has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.
