Reports in the Italian press suggest that Maurizio Sarri could end up finishing his coaching career with Lazio in the future.
The 64-year-old Italian coach took over in the summer of 2021 as the replacement for Simone Inzaghi and has done incredibly well in the Italian capital, overhauling the squad and showing off his exciting brand of attacking football.
Lazio are in the thick of the race for a top four finish this season and have all the cards to secure Champions League qualification, allowing them to invest more heavily in the summer transfer window.
As detailed by La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Sarri’s current plan is to stay with Lazio until his contract expires in 2025, before possibly leaving for one final experience abroad.
The 64-year-old has no interest in leading a national team, not considering himself suitable for the role, but is also tempted by the idea of ending his career with the Biancocelesti, a club that he’s grown to love since his arrival.
Sarri has also been linked with other jobs in Italy in recent months, like Inter or Milan, but does not seem likely to make the jump in the summer.
