Lazio Face Tough Competition for Experienced Midfielder Uribe

Lazio are seriously interested in picking up Mateus Uribe on a free transfer this summer but are facing tough competition from a number of top clubs.

The 32-year-old Colombian midfielder’s contract expires with Porto at the end of this season and there’s no shortage of interest in him, with clubs appreciating his experience and tactical flexibility.

Lazio have started keeping a close eye on Uribe and believe he may be the perfect low-cost option to reinforce Maurizio Sarri’s midfield, especially if players like Marcos Antonio and Toma Basic are sold.

As reported by O Jogo and Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio are preparing an offer of around €2-2.5 million net per season for Uribe, but it may not be enough to convince him of the move to Rome.

The Colombian has already turned down an offer from Olympique Marseille and Atletico Madrid have prepared a deal worth €3 million per season for the 32-year-old. Flamengo are also keen on picking up the midfielder.

Uribe has also received an offer from an unnamed Italian club, who have proposed a three-year contract worth €14 million total, figures the Biancocelesti cannot match.
