Immobile Suffers Spine Injury After Crashing Car Into Tram

Lazio captain Ciro Immobile has suffered a spine injury and a fractured rib after being involved in a traffic collision with a tram in Rome.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TMW) details how the 33-year-old Italian striker’s car collided with the number 19 tram in Rome at the junction between Piazza delle Cinque Giornate and Ponte Matteotti, destroying the front of his vehicle.

Speaking to Agtw after the incident, Immobile felt that he was not seriously injured in the incident, explaining: “The tram ran a red light. Luckily, I’m fine, my arm just hurts a little.”

The Lazio captain was taken to Agostino Gemelli University Policlinic for precautionary checks along with his daughters, one of whom left the scene of the incident wearing a neck brace.

Medical tests confirmed that Immobile had suffered a ‘distortion of the spinal column’ and a compound fracture to one of his ribs.

The number 19 tram allegedly derailed from the tracks and other cars were also involved in the collision.
