Lazio Squad That Beat Spezia Cost the Same as Roma’s Abraham

The Lazio starting line-up in the win over Spezia cost around the same amount as Roma striker Tammy Abraham, a sign of the team’s smart investments.

The Biancocelesti, under the guidance of Claudio Lotito, have always paid close attention to their financial health and rarely invest heavily, often frustrating fans with their work in the transfer market.

With Lazio set to secure Champions League qualification, the hope is that the club will invest a little more heavily in the summer in order to take Maurizio Sarri’s project to the next level in the Italian capital.

As detailed by La Repubblica Roma (via LazioNews24), Lazio’s starting lineup in their win over Spezia cost around €42.5m, essentially the same amount that Roma paid Chelsea for Abraham back in 2021, which was €40m plus performance related add-ons.

In addition, Lazio have the sixth highest wage bill in Serie A with €68m gross, less than Juventus, Inter, Milan, Roma and Napoli.

Over the last decade, the Biancocelesti have spent the 10th most on transfers in Serie A, showing their ability to cleverly invest despite their relative lack of resources.
