Complaint Against Immobile Filed After Traffic Collision

Codacons, a non-profit organisation defending consumer rights and the environment, has filed a complaint against Lazio star Ciro Immobile following his involvement in a car crash with a tram.

The 33-year-old Italian striker suffered an injury to his spine and a fractured rib after his car collided with the number 19 tram in Rome at the junction between Piazza delle Cinque Giornate and Ponte Matteotti, a crash that destroyed the front of his vehicle.

Immobile claimed in the immediate aftermath that the tram had ran a red light, which is why he the collision took place, but this version of events hasn’t gone unchallenged, with the tram driver claiming that he went through a green light and that the Lazio captain was travelling at a high speed.

Codacons – the Coordination of Associations for the Defence of the Environment and of the Rights of Users and Consumers – has confirmed (via LazioNews24) their decision to file a complaint to the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office, wanting the incident to be investigated.
