Lazio Will Have to Wait if They Want Giuntoli to Replace Tare

Maurizio Sarri is still hoping to see Napoli’s Cristiano Giuntoli replace Igli Tare as the Lazio sporting director, but he’ll have to wait at least a year for this dream to be realised.

The 49-year-old Tare has grown into a much-maligned figure amongst Biancocelesti supporters in recent years, with many questioning his work on the transfer market and repeated insistence on focusing on players from Eastern Europe, which has generated a number of disappointing deals in recent years like Denis Vavro and Dimitrije Kamenovic.

Sarri is no fan of Tare and the pair have reportedly clashed on a number of occasions since the Italian coach’s arrival back in the summer of 2021. The Albanian sporting director’s contract expires with Lazio in just over two months’ time.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Giuntoli still has one year left on his contract with Napoli and president Aurelio De Laurentiis has no intention of losing him early, so Lazio will have to wait at least a year if they want the 51-year-old to replace Tare.
