Porto midfielder Mateus Uribe wants to join Lazio and has began refusing other offers, but Maurizio Sarri wants to wait before giving the green light to a deal.
The 32-year-old Colombian’s current contract with Porto is coming to an end, making him a free agent this summer. A number of clubs around Europe are interested in picking him up including Olympique Marseille, Atletico Madrid and the Biancocelesti.
Lazio are hoping to secure a Champions League finish this season in order to give them more resources for the summer transfer window, allowing the club to continue developing Sarri’s project in the Italian capital.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Uribe has decided that he wants to join Lazio and has refused a number of other offers from interested clubs, including Marseille.
Sarri, however, has asked for talks to be put on hold for now as he wants to see which midfielders are leaving or staying in the summer. The coach appreciates the 32-year-old and would be happy to have him in his squad, should there be space.
Well, he is a bit old for a long term project, we already have enough variants for that position. We should look elsewhere, don’t care even if he is free.
