Cataldi Becoming a Talisman for Lazio, New Contract & Future in Coaching

Danilo Cataldi is increasingly becoming a key leader in the Lazio squad and is set to continue his journey with the club for a long time to come.

The Italian midfielder is a product of the Biancocelesti’s youth system and has always been attached to the club, only leaving for a few brief loan spells earlier in his career.

Since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri, Cataldi has grown into a key figure for Lazio, earning his spot in the three-man midfield and growing in confidence.

As detailed by Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Lazio squad already consider a Cataldi a leader in the dressing room and a possible future captain. Should Sergej Milinkovic-Savic leave in the summer, he’d become the new vice-captain.

Last week, the 28-year-old midfielder signed a new contract with the Biancocelesti, worth €1.5m net per season until 2028, which also contains an option for an extra year.

There’s also a clause that’ll allow him to discuss the idea of becoming a coach in the Lazio youth system once he retires, his dream move.

Cataldi is trying to learn as much as he can from Sarri during their time together and is now one of the most important players in the squad, something he’s earnt after a tough few years prior to Sarri’s arrival.
