Lazio are hoping to tie down Felipe Anderson to a new contract and must refer back to a promise made to the Brazilian winger.
The 30-year-old returned to the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2021 from West Ham for just €3 million, a low fee considering that three years prior he left for East London in a deal worth €38 million.
Since his return, Felipe Anderson has been one of the most important figures in Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio squad, and the club do not want him to enter the final year of his contract, which expires in June 2024.
As highlighted by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Felipe Anderson dropped his wages to just €2.5 million net per season in order to return to Lazio in the summer of 2021, and Claudio Lotito promised him a raise to the €3.5 million he earnt at West Ham in his next contract.
With the Biancocelesti ready to sit down with the 30-year-old at the end of the season, this promise will likely be the starting point for contract renewal negotiations.
