Lazio vs Sassuolo: Recent History

Lazio had been in a vein of rich form over the last two months, but have started to slow down in recent weeks, suffering back-to-back losses to Torino and Inter. Despite the dip in form, Maurizio Sarriā€™s side still sit second in the Serie A table and are in a good spot as the top four race starts to reach its final stages.

Sassuolo looked inconsistent in April, losing to teams like Hellas Verona and Salernitana but looking strong in wins over Juventus and Empoli. Alessio Dionisi did well to turn things around after their sluggish start to the season and they are now comfortably in the mid-table, sitting 11th.

When these two teams met back in January, Lazio secured a confident 2-0 win over Sassuolo in Reggio-Emilia.

Lazio vs Sassuolo: Team News

Lazio almost have a fully fit squad heading into the match, finally recovering Ciro Immobile following his recent car crash, but they are without Danilo Cataldi, who suffered a calf injury in the loss to Inter. Alessio Romagnoli is out through suspension.

Sassuolo have no injuries to account for but cannot rely on Maxime Lopez and Andrea Pinamonti, who are both sidelined with suspensions.

Expected Starting Lineups

Sarri is expected to use a fairly similar starting 11 to the one that lost to Inter on the weekend, replacing the injured Cataldi with Matias Vecino and the suspended Romagnoli with Patric. Immobile will lead the frontline and will be hoping to return to scoring ways at a crucial point of the season.

Sassuolo can count on a strong and unpredictable starting lineup, with key figures like Domenico Berardi, Armand Lauriente and Davide Frattesi all ready to take to the pitch.

Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Hysaj, Casale, Patric, Marusic; Milinkovic-Savic, Vecino, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni.

Sassuolo (4-3-3): Consigli; Toljan, Ruan, Erlic, Rogerio; Frattesi, Obiang, Henrique; Berardi, Defrel, Lauriente.
