23 years ago today, Lazio secured their second ever Scudetto after beating Reggina and seeing Juventus lose to Perugia.
The Biancocelesti entered the final weekend of the 1999-2000 Serie A season second in the Serie A table, two points behind league leaders Juventus.
Pressure was high on Sven Goran Eriksson’s side, who had to beat Reggina and hope Perugia could pull off an upset against the Old Lady, which is exactly what happened on 14th May 2000.
Lazio flew to a comfortable 3-0 win over Reggina, with goals coming from Simone Inzaghi, Juan Sebastian Veron and Diego Simeone.
Juventus, on the other hand, disappointed away from home and slumped to a 1-0 loss after a 49th minute goal from Alessandro Calori, leaving them heartbroken in Umbria.
The results allowed Lazio to rise to the top on the final day of the season, securing their second ever Scudetto.
