Sarri Asks Luis Alberto to Stay With Lazio

Luis Alberto has proven himself a core part of Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio squad and the coach has asked him not to leave the club this summer.

The 30-year-old Spaniard and the Italian coach did not see eye to eye during their first season together last year, with tension brewing regarding tactical decisions and defensive responsibilities.

After a little while, though, the pair started to find common ground and this season Luis Alberto has returned to his best, being a key figure for Lazio across the campaign, scoring five goals and providing six assists in 32 Serie A games.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Sarri has explicitly asked Luis Alberto to stay with Lazio for next season, wanting him to help the squad continue their recent growth and take the next step forward.

The Spanish midfielder is open to the idea, but has reportedly asked for his wages to increase to €3.5m net per season, the same amount as the departing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
