Who Could Replace Marcos Antonio at Lazio This Summer?

Lazio are expected to sell Marcos Antonio after just a year in the upcoming summer transfer window, forcing them to find an adequate replacement.

The Biancocelesti bought the 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer in a deal worth around €8 million, adding a talented but relatively untested talent to Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

Unfortunately, Marcos Antonio has struggled to find his footing in the Italian capital, hardly being given a chance by Sarri due to his inability to play as the anchor in a three-man midfield. Whilst the 22-year-old has heaps of technical talent, his defensive work leaves a lot to be desired.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio are set to sell Marcos Antonio in the summer in order to free up a space in their squad and allow them to bring in a more suitable reinforcement for Sarri’s system.

A long list of players are being considered for this, including Galatasaray’s Lucas Torreira, Juventus loanee Nicolo Rovella, AZ Alkmaar’s Jordy Clasie and Bologna’s Jerdy Schouten.
