Two Lazio Players Called Up for Italy’s Nations League Commitments

Roberto Mancini has called up two Lazio players for Italy’s upcoming Nations League final four commitments.

The Azzurri will face off against Spain on Thursday 15th June in Enschede, the Netherlands. Should they win, they’d face the winner of Netherlands-Croatia in the final on June 18, and losing would match them up against the loser of that clash in the third-place match on the same day.

Two Lazio players – Ciro Immobile and Mattia Zaccagni – were both handed a call-up by Mancini, giving the former another chance to try and show his best for the national team, whilst the latter will be hoping to start carving out a spot for himself in the squad.

Some notable Lazio players were omitted and could’ve made the cut, like goalkeeper Ivan Provedel and defender Alessio Romagnoli. Some Azzurri fans also questioned other choices, like that of Alessandro Florenzi or Federico Baschirotto.

Below is Italy’s squad for the Nations League final four stage:

  • Goalkeepers: Donnarumma (PSG), Meret (Napoli), Vicario (Empoli).
  • Defenders: Baschirotto (Lecce), Bonucci (Juventus), Buongiorno (Torino), Di Lorenzo (Napoli), Florenzi (Milan), Gatti (Juventus), Spinazzola (Roma), Toloi (Atalanta).
  • Midfielders: Cristante (Roma), Frattesi (Sassuolo), Jorginho (Arsenal), Locatelli (Juventus), Pellegrini (Roma), Pessina (Monza), Verratti (PSG), Zaniolo (Galatasaray).
  • Forwards: Berardi (Sassuolo), Chiesa (Juventus), Gnonto (Leeds), Immobile (Lazio), Raspadori (Napoli), Retegui (Tigre), Zaccagni (Lazio).
