Lazio’s Ivan Provedel has been awarded the title of Best Goalkeeper of the 2022-23 Serie A season.
The 29-year-old Italian shot stopper has massively exceeded expectations in the Italian capital this campaign. He joined from Spezia last summer in a deal worth around €2.4 million and was expected to play the role of backup to the more expensive Luis Maximiano.
After the Portuguese goalkeeper picked up a red card just six minutes into the season opener against Bologna, Provedel took over in goal and proved himself a brick wall, quickly earning a starting spot in Maurizio Sarri’s squad.
As announced by Lega Serie A, Provedel was chosen to be the Best Goalkeeper of the 2022-23 Serie A season, rewarding him for his incredible work between the sticks.
The 29-year-old kept 20 clean sheets in 37 league appearances, conceding just 30 goals in that time.
Provedel has already written himself into the club’s history books, keeping the most clean sheets in a single Serie A season for Lazio.
