Lazio Player Ratings for Assured Win Over Empoli

None of the Lazio squad disappointed in their confident and important 2-0 win over Empoli, a result that guaranteed their second-place finish in Serie A.

Maurizio Sarri’s side picked up their highest league finish in over two decades – since their Scudetto-winning campaign of 1999-2000 – after picking up all three points in Tuscany, an impressive result considering the resources available to the Italian coach.

Lazio were clearly hungry for the win at the Stadio Carlo Castellani and quickly hit the ground running, putting Empoli under pressure almost immediately and maintaining this until the final whistle.

If it hadn’t been for the heroics of Azzurri shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario, who made nine saves, Lazio could’ve won by a significantly wider margin.

Alessio Romagnoli put Lazio ahead after a bullet header in the 48th minute and Luis Alberto closed out the win in the 92nd minute with a well-placed shot from outside the penalty area.
