Sarri Wants Lazio to Bring Back Peruzzi

Talks have started between Lazio and Angelo Peruzzi as the club work to try and convince the former goalkeeper to return to the Italian capital.

Peruzzi spent five years working as the team manager for the Biancocelesti from 2016 to 2021, leaving due to frustrations with his role at the club and lack of true responsibilities.

Lazio are continuing to build Maurizio Sarri’s project in the Italian capital and their qualification to the Champions League, as well as sporting director Igli Tare’s departure, will allow the team to take the next step forward.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Sarri wants Lazio to bring back Peruzzi as the team manager, hoping the 53-year-old will be able to act as the glue between the club’s management and the first team squad.

Peruzzi is reportedly flattered by the offer, but is unsure whether to accept or not as he’d like a more operational role and not simply returning to be a figurehead for the squad.

Talks are now ongoing and Claudio Lotito has until the training camp in Auronzo di Cadore, scheduled for 11th July, to convince the former goalkeeper to return.
