Salernitana have identified Lazio talent Matteo Cancellieri as a possible summer target as they prepare to strengthen their squad.
Striker Boulaye Dia shined in Campania this season, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists in 33 Serie A appearances. The Senegalese striker arrived on loan from Villarreal and the Granata are now working on making his move permanent, aware of the serious interest in him, leading to a possible sale in the coming months.
Cancellieri joined Lazio last summer from Hellas Verona on a loan deal with an €8 million obligation to buy clause attached, adding a raw talent to Maurizio Sarri’s squad. He struggled to break into the squad, seeing just 237 minutes of action across 20 Serie A games.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Salernitana are looking around for summer reinforcements and believe Cancellieri may be a good fit for their squad. A tactically flexible player, the 21-year-old can play as a centre forward or a winger on either side of the pitch.
Reports suggest that Lazio are hoping to include Cancellieri in a deal for Sassuolo talisman Domenico Berardi, but if this move fails to materialise then the 21-year-old could head south to join the Granata.
