Simone Inzaghi is reportedly keen to bring Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Inter but first some sales are needed in Lombardy.
The 28-year-old Serbian star is expected to leave Lazio this summer, ready to make the jump to a top side. His current contract expires in Rome in June of next year and he is not keen to pen a new deal, so failing to sell him this summer could lead to a free transfer after next season.
Milinkovic-Savic was a star in Maurizio Sarri’s squad this season, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists in 36 Serie A appearances, helping Lazio secure a second-place finish in the league.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Inzaghi will meet with Inter’s management this week to discuss the future and their summer transfer market plans, and Milinkovic-Savic is expected to be a part of the talks.
The Nerazzurri are still in a delicate financial position, however, so would need to generate some resources through sales before making a move for the Serbian midfielder.
Inter’s current top target to strengthen their midfield is Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi, who is also wanted by Roma and Juventus.
