Lazio Raise Offer to Luis Alberto to Ward off Saudi Interest

Lazio are serious about retaining Luis Alberto and have increased their offer to the star midfielder, who has received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

The 30-year-old Spaniard shined under Maurizio Sarri this season, playing a crucial role in the team’s charge back to the Champions League. The coach already made it clear that he does not want to lose Luis Alberto this summer, pushing Claudio Lotito to action.

Luis Alberto currently earns around €2.8 million net per season in Rome and has asked Lazio for a raise, reflective of his importance to the club. Lotito initially hesitated, allowing Al Hilal to submit a far more lucrative €8 million salary offer.

Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24) reports that Lazio have now offered a new deal to Luis Alberto, a four-year contract worth €4 million net per season including add-ons.

The Spaniard appreciates this move and is now angling towards staying in Rome, despite the €40 million total offer on the table in Saudi Arabia.
