Lazio Edge Closer to Berardi After Latest Meeting With Sassuolo

Lazio are continuing their work to sign Domenico Berardi and took a step forward after their latest meeting with Sassuolo.

The 28-year-old Italian winger is ready to leave Reggio-Emilia to take the next step in the prime of his career, keen to play Champions League football and possibly compete for silverware. Maurizio Sarri believes Berardi would be a perfect fit for his squad and has identified him as a priority.

Berardi has already reportedly agreed personal terms with Lazio, willing to sign a four-year contract worth around €3.5 million net per season, but no deal has been agreed yet with Sassuolo.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio president Claudio Lotito met with his Sassuolo counterpart Giovanni Carnevali on Friday after the Lega Serie A assembly, discussing the terms of a deal for Berardi.

The Neroverdi are happy to let the 28-year-old leave, but not for less than €20 million. As such, the Biancocelesti are hoping to include Matteo Cancellieri into the deal to lower the overall costs.

The two clubs are keen to reach an agreement and work is being carried out to resolve the remaining issues, with the hope being to add Berardi to the squad before the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore.

  1. Music to my ears , I wonder if the 3.5 mil is right because he will be between the top 3 earners if true.

Anyway it’s ok if we dontpay more than 20mil which is a surprise that Sassuolo aren’t pushing for more considering they will loose Frattesi as well. 2 of their best players will likely leave.

Well done to our lads who are talking with him and I can’t wait to see him Fly in 🤍💙 he will fall in love with Lazio when he steps on to the Olimpico next or even before at Auronzo I am 100% certain.
