Lazio Can’t Be Counted Out in Race for Retegui

Lazio have been following Mateo Retegui for months and despite the competition, they’re not planning to give up on the Tigre striker.

Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito has been keeping a personal eye on the 24-year-old Argentine-Italian, impressed with his work with Tigre. The striker joined the club from Boca Juniors on a two-year loan deal with a €2.3m buy option attached, which’ll certainly be activated.

Tigre are preparing for a summer auction for Retegui, hoping to pick up around €15-20 million for the talented striker. Lazio are one of many clubs interested in signing the centre forward, giving them tough competition in the race for his signature.

La Lazio Siamo Noi details how Lazio have not given up on Retegui despite the serious competition and will try and look to make a move for the striker in the coming months. Inter are also keen to snap up the 24-year-old but are currently focusing their efforts on Romelu Lukaku and Davide Frattesi.

Maurizio Sarri made it clear that he expects a new centre forward to arrive this summer and Lotito would love to satisfy this request with Retegui.
