Lazio have reportedly made contact with Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha to start discussing a possible move to Rome this summer.
The 30-year-old Ivorian winger’s contract is drawing to a close with the Eagles and he will not pen a new deal, pushing him to find a new home in the coming months. A talented forward, he’s often been linked with a move from South London in recent years, but ultimately stayed with his boyhood club.
Lazio are looking around to add a new winger to Maurizio Sarri’s squad, keen to give the Italian tactician the resources necessary to compete on multiple fronts following the team’s qualification to the Champions League.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Lazio recently approached Zaha to start exploring a free transfer to the club this summer, starting negotiations. This are not expected to be easy, especially when considering his high wage demands.
Last year, Roma were linked with a move for Zaha, but ultimately moved away to focus on other targets. The 30-year-old currently has a number of offers on the table.
This season, the Ivorian winger scored seven goals and provided two assists in 27 Premier League appearances, continuing to be a talismanic figure for Crystal Palace.
